Skill Rolls
All skill rolls are based on the skill's skill group. The formula is Skill Roll = Dice Roll (percentile dice) + total skill points in skill group + any racial modifiers
Skill Points
In OSTS you receive skill points to spend on special abilities from encounters and events. This could be anything from combat to negotiation, to puzzles. The amount of skill points you receive for each instance is determined by your GM based on how difficult it should of been for you or your party. For the descriptions for Difficulty I used an example of combat but I think you can figure it out for other types of instances. Races that are more powerful then normal get less skill points for an encounter then less powerful ones. To find out the amount of skill points you get for an encounter you take your Skill Points Multiplier which you can find in your races info and multiply it by the difficulty level of the encounter.

Skill Bonuses
Each Character has two skills groups that it is inherently better at then most. One is determined by your race and one is determined by the player at time of character creation.
The equation for Skill Bonuses is total skill points spent in the skill group divided by four rounded down.
